Mildred Pierce

a

Tom and I are in the middle of watching Treme on HBO and in between shows we see a lot of previews for other upcoming shows. The one that really keeps catching my eye is the preview for the Mildred Pierce miniseries starring Kate Winslet. Ms. Winslet is tops on my list of favorite actresses so I'm sure I'd watch it no matter what, but even if she wasn't in it, the costumes alone would be reason enough to watch.

I love Kate Winslet! The outfits for the show are stunning.

I don't have HBO so sadly i can't really watch it. I'll have to see what I can do to check it out though :)

OH. MY. GOSH!!!!! This is the first time I've heard of this, and I cannot tell you how excited you just made me. Mildred Pierce is in my top 5 favorite movies, which is just like a normal person saying it's their favorite movie! haha
Eeeek! Off to go tell my movie nerd friends. They probably already know and will look at me like I'm a crazy person. Which, right now, I am. :D

The clothes and the hats are worth a watch but the movie is great as well. It shows the true mommie dearest with an empowered evil of a woman tired and devoted to her love of HER family. The design of the film is a great bonus to a timeless story. I think they will show it on TCM this month because of the 30 days of OSCAR. I hope you check it out.

you gotta watch the original, with Joan Crawford. it's truly fantastic in a way that only joan crawford can be. kate winslet is a damn good actress though, so i bet she'll pull it off. i love the color palette in that first picture.

the original is my #2 favorite film (beat out by the amazing Meet Me in St. Louis). I've been anticipating the HBO miniseries for what seems like forever, but from the looks of it, we are in for a treat! Thank for your wonderful post :)

Umm - YES... love this era of fashion - so classy; why don't women dress beautifully instead of skanky? Class doesn't need to be covered from head to toe - but a little elegance goes a long way!

I don't have Showtime, but I've been reading so many reviews for this miniseries and I am already excited to rent it when it becomes available. It looks beautifully done!
